This project uses the perpetual calendar monthly files available from Marie's MyEmbroideryHaven Yahoo group. You make your own year and month names from alphabets of your choice. http://groups.yahoo.com/group/MyEmbroideryHaven/

There are 3 separate pieces for this calendar: the year banner, the month name banner and the monthly numbers sheet. All pieces are 11 inches long. The width depends on the piece.

For the Year

If you are using the 3D-Amazement FSL alphabet, you can stitch it directly to the craft felt. Cut 2 pieces of felt each 11 inches by 3 inches.

If you are using another alphabet, cut the pieces 11 inches by 1 to 2 inches larger than the height of the font.
You can find the 3D-Amazement here: http://www.myembroideryhaven.com/3Dalph ... ement.html

Hoop cut away stabilizer. I've used Floriani Wet N Stick Cutaway. Moisten the top sticky surface according to the instructions, and place one felt piece centred in the hoop.

Stitch out each letter of the year.

Proceed to the finishing instructions.

For the Month Name

Carefully check to make sure you have spelled the month name correctly

I've used the Elevation alphabet and designs from Marie's Loveland set. Elevation was a free gift from the Yahoo group
Loveland can be found here: http://www.myembroideryhaven.com/loveland.html

If you have editing software, find an alphabet you like, and corresponding designs, and merge them. If you don't have editing software, then this project can become a perfect one for the Spring Challenge. Make March, April or May,.multihooping individual letters and corresponding accent designs.

You can find information about the Spring Challenge here: viewforum.php?f=15

If you are using the 3D-Amazement alphabet, then cut 2 pieces of craft felt each 11 inches long by 2 inches wider then your finished design. 6 inches gives a good field to carry the name and accents, but you'll need to measure depending on what accent pieces you use.

For the Monthly Numbers Sheet

Use the month designs from Marie's Yahoo group

Finishing each piece

Unhoop the piece. Leave the stabilizer in place.

Turn it over so the stabilizer is on top. Trim back threads. Press the stabilizer side with an iron set on the synthetic (cool) setting to smooth everything.

Trim the stabilizer even with the felt.

Turn the piece face down and lightly spray with temporary adhesive. Place the corresponding felt piece on the back to create a nicely finished back. Trim again with pinking sheers or a scalloped rotary cutter.

Topstitch around the rectangle ¼ inch in from the edge.

Place double sided sticky tape on a piece of flexible magnet. Stick magnet pieces in each corner of the rectangle. Now your piece is ready to stick to the fridge.
